2014 annual report

This is FSD Kenya’s 10th annual report. We have witnessed tremendous change over the last decade and our understanding about Kenya’s financial markets continues to deepen.

Among the key highlights of the year was the release of our Kenya Financial Diaries. This monumental study tracked the lives of 300 low income Kenyan households for over a year. The study brought out the complexity of the financial management challenges faced by the poor, and emphasized the need for both the public and private sectors to start trying to create the tools they need.

Today we see that the path to creating a truly inclusive financial system is wider and longer than we first envisioned. Nevertheless, if Kenya supports and exploits technology driven innovation, we could see major breakthroughs in the reach and relevance of financial services for the poor within the next ten years.
